SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 571
In Memory
of
Paul Carroll Holter III
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of Marine Corporal
Paul Carroll Holter III, who died January 14, 2005, at the age
of 21, while serving his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
WHEREAS, Paul Holter was born March 21, 1983, in Yokosuka,
Japan; he attended Corpus Christi's Flour Bluff High School,
where he helped lead the school's Navy Junior Reserve Officers'
Training Corps drill team to four national championships; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Paul joined
the United States Marine Corps, following a family tradition of
military service; he was a proud member of the Artillery Battery S,
2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, based
in San Diego, California; and
WHEREAS, His first tour of duty in Iraq was from March
until July of 2003; he was serving his second tour of duty when he
lost his life in Ramadi, Iraq, fighting on behalf of his
country's ideals and commitment to its goals; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated Marine and an American hero,
Corporal Holter dreamed of pursuing a career in law enforcement
in Corpus Christi or San Antonio, following his discharge from
military service; and
WHEREAS, Paul will be fondly remembered as a man who never
met a stranger, and his optimism and famous smile will continue
to inspire all who knew him; and
WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Paul Holter lived his life to the
fullest and was a devoted son and brother, and he leaves behind
memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many
friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Marine Corporal Paul Carroll Holter III: his
father, Paul Holter II; his mother, Christine "Tina" Holter; his
sister, Tanya Holter; his grandparents, Paul and Mary Holter and
Cecelia Kizewski; and his other beloved relatives; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Paul Holter III.
