SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 578
In Memory
of
Jack Wendel Coe
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Jack Wendel Coe, who died February 7, 2005,
at the age of 65; and
WHEREAS, Born May 10, 1939, in Corpus Christi to Polly Sims Coe
and John Henry Coe, Jack Coe spent over 40 years in the petrochemical
industry, serving in maintenance, manufacturing, safety, and
public affairs; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Coe joined Rohm and Haas Texas in Deer Park in
1986 and served as a Risk Communications manager and later as the
External Affairs manager; he was active in various industry
groups, including the East Harris County Manufacturers
Association, for which he chaired a number of committees; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated leader in the Deer Park community,
Jack was instrumental in creating the partnership between Rohm
and Haas Texas and San Jacinto Elementary School; he helped
establish a mentoring program at the school and the Health
Education Career Prep program; and
WHEREAS, Remembered by his colleagues for his kindness and
thoughtfulness, as well as for his professional expertise, he
gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued
counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
WHEREAS, Jack Coe lived his life to the fullest and was a
devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind
memories that will be cherished forever by his family and many
friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Jack Wendel Coe: his wife of 46 years,
Dorothy Coe; his son and daughter-in-law, Dudley and Jennifer Coe;
his daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Keith Johnson, Amanda
and Gary McLeod, and Donna and Michael George; his brother,
John Coe; and his 12 grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Jack Wendel Coe.
