SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 592
In Memory
of
Dorothy Mae Perry Howard
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Houston in mourning the loss of Dorothy Mae Perry Howard, who
died March 4, 2005, at the age of 68; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Mae Perry was born on October 15, 1936, in
Baskin, Louisiana, to Lawrence Perry, Sr., and Pinkie Johnson Perry;
she attended Franklin Parish High School and married Henry Howard, Sr.,
with whom she had seven children; and
WHEREAS, She accepted Christ at an early age, and when she
moved to Houston in 1973, she became a member of the Watts Chapel
Baptist Church; she later joined Westside Baptist Church, where
she continued to worship for the rest of her life; and
WHEREAS, A generous and caring woman, Dorothy Mae enriched
the lives of all who knew her with her love and compassion, her
warmth and kindness, and her enthusiasm for living each day to
the fullest; and
WHEREAS, She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she
leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her
family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Dorothy Mae Perry Howard: her sons and
daughter-in-law, Ricky Howard and Henry Howard, Jr., and his
wife, Evette; her daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn Pitts and
Robert Pitts, Sr., Eva Howard, Pamela Howard, and Barnice Willis
and Vick Willis; her brothers, Jesse Perry, James Perry,
Issac Perry, Andrew Perry, and Lawrence Perry, Jr.; her sisters,
Martha McFarland and Clara Bell; her 16 grandchildren; and her
four great-grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Dorothy Mae Perry Howard.
