SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 593
In Memory
of
Alejandro R. Trevino
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Austin in mourning the loss of Alejandro "Alex" R. Trevino,
who died April 1, 2005, at the age of 58; and
WHEREAS, Alex joined the Austin Fire Department after he
returned from serving his country during the Vietnam War; he
served the citizens of Austin as a firefighter for 30 years
before he retired; he took joy in making a difference in people's
lives through his work; and
WHEREAS, As a member of Texas Task Force One, he went to
New York to help in the aftermath of the World Trade Center
disaster of September 11, 2001; he was part of a special task
force assigned to the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, and he
participated in work on the recovery of parts of the Space
Shuttle Columbia, which broke up over Texas; and
WHEREAS, Life as a firefighter requires special qualities
that include exceptional courage and self-sacrifice, as well as
perseverance in facing challenges on a daily basis, and Alex
exemplified those qualities, never hesitating to face danger to
protect others; and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
Alex was noted for living his life to the fullest; he earned the
admiration and respect of all who knew him, and he leaves behind
memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many
friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Alejandro R. Trevino: his children, James Rene,
Tracy, and Celena Lea Trevino; his brothers and sisters,
Manuel Trevino, Virginia Trevino, Margaret Valchar, Daniel Trevino,
and Veronica Trevino; and his three grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
Alejandro R. Trevino.
