SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 600
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Dr. Gloria Terrell Jackson, who was recently honored
with a Weselene Wiley Inspirational Award from the Dallas Chapter of
the National Association of Black Social Workers, Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Jackson was presented the award as an education
honoree at the Hezekiah Jerry Scholarship Luncheon on March 5, 2005;
Dr. Jackson exemplifies the theme of this year's luncheon,
"Continuing To Make A Difference"; and
WHEREAS, A professor at Eastfield College, Dr. Jackson has
served as Social Work/Substance Abuse chair since 1998 and has
been instrumental in molding and shaping the education of many of
today's social workers; and
WHEREAS, Her numerous career achievements include serving
as a facilitator for the National Alliance of Model Drug Laws, a
coordinator for the Drug Free Youth in Texas for the Dallas Public
Schools, a consultant for the National Basketball Association,
and a master addiction counselor; and
WHEREAS, A highly respected community leader, Dr. Jackson
is a source of strength to others and an inspiration to her
colleagues, and she deserves recognition for her outstanding work;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Gloria Terrell Jackson for
her exceptional leadership and many accomplishments in the field
of social work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
