SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 606
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize LaToya Beaver, who is participating in the first annual Buds of Royalty Revue sponsored by the Omicron Gamma Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated; and WHEREAS, The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was organized at Howard University in 1920 as a sister society to the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity; the founding principles of the sorority as expressed by the organizers are finer womanhood, scholarship, service, and sisterly love; and WHEREAS, Established in 1990, the Omicron Gamma Zeta Chapter has experienced steady growth and is an exemplary organization; it has annually provided Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets and now awards four scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors; it has adopted the Friendswood's Sunlight Mission and has participated in a number of other charitable activities; and WHEREAS, At the Buds of Royalty Revue, young women will be groomed in the arts of etiquette, ballroom dancing, and public speaking as part of their training to become debutantes; LaToya Beaver is truly worthy of the honor of participating in this prestigious event; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Omicron Gamma Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, for their many contributions to the community and extend best wishes for the future to LaToya Beaver; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate.
