SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 611
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the members of the Rodriguez family on the grand occasion
of their family reunion on April 16, 2005; and
WHEREAS, The Mexican Revolution forced many young
families to flee their country seeking a better life, and
Luciano Martinez Rodriguez and Nabora Reyes Rodriguez were two of
those determined emigrants; they moved to the United States with
their two young daughters in the early 1900s; and
WHEREAS, After living in various towns in Texas, their
journey led them to Houston, where they permanently settled with
their growing family; Luciano joined many other East Enders to
build and expand the Houston Ship Channel; and
WHEREAS, The Rodriguez family has a long history of service
to this nation; four sons, a grandson, and a daughter served in
World War II and Korea; this tradition has continued, as
grandchildren and great-grandchildren have served in Korea,
Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm, Iraq, and Afghanistan; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Rodriguez family are successful
men and women who believe strongly in traditional values and
instill in their children the virtues of love and hard work; and
WHEREAS, The 2005 reunion will provide an opportunity for
family members to learn more of their family history and to celebrate
their rich heritage; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the Rodriguez family
for a joyous family reunion; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
