SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 640
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
to recognize Spring Antioch Baptist Church on the occasion of
its sixth anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Spring Antioch Baptist Church has its origins
with members of a Bible study group who began meeting in the
home of Patrick Daigle on January 11, 1999; the Bible study group
continued to grow, and on March 29, 1999, the Reverend E. A. Wilson
announced that he intended to organize a church in the Spring
community and use the study group as the core body; and
WHEREAS, Members of the study group were enthusiastic about
following the lead of Reverend Wilson, which included a detour
through the Bordersville community where they began a street
ministry; seven months later, they moved into a beautiful new
church building and had their first service on December 3, 1999;
and
WHEREAS, The church has continued to grow and undertake
many worthy projects in the community; through its many ministries,
it provides services for people of all ages; and
WHEREAS, The Spring Antioch Baptist Church has been a source
of strength for its members during times of hardships and in times
of bereavement; it offers both the hope of the Gospel message and
the practical demonstration of it; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and
members of Spring Antioch Baptist Church for a memorable sixth
anniversary celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
