SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 690
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Karen Kay Hale, who is retiring from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission on April 30, 2005, after 31 years of dedicated service to the state; and WHEREAS, Karen began her career as an employee with the commission when it was known as the Texas Department of Human Services; she first worked in the Child Protective Services division, formerly Travis County Child Welfare, and later transferred to Data Integrity; and WHEREAS, She served in the Medicare Part B Section for eight years before being promoted to supervisor for the Tel-Assistance Program, the hotline for disabled adults, where she served for 12 years until it closed; and WHEREAS, She has served as the supervisor for the Newborn Eligibility Unit since July of 2001 and has worked with hospitals throughout the state to enroll newborn babies in the state Medicaid program; and WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful individual, Karen has handled her many responsibilities with exceptional skill and dedication; she has provided quality services to Texans in need, and her empathy and compassion for others has endeared her to both clients and colleagues; and WHEREAS, An exemplary state employee, Karen has been an inspiration to those who have had the pleasure to know her and work with her, and her presence as an employee with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Karen Kay Hale for her many contributions to our state and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
