SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 691
In Memory
of
Rudolph P. Castañon
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Austin in mourning the loss of Rudolph P. Castañon, Jr., who
died March 27, 2005, at the age of 57; and
WHEREAS, Rudolph P. Castañon was born in Austin in 1947 to
Rodolfo and Rita Perez Castañon, and he was a 1965 graduate of
A. S. Johnston High School; and
WHEREAS, He was the owner of El Porvenir, a Santa Rita
neighborhood grocery store and bakery in East Austin, from 1979
to 2005; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Rudolph proudly supported
many community organizations, and he was admired and respected in
the community for his many accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, A distinguished gentleman, Rudolph Castañon was
noted for his generosity toward others, and his wisdom, warmth,
and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him;
and
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Rudolph P. Castañon, Jr.: his wife of 38 years,
Emmy Castañon; his daughters, Therese Castañon-Griffith and
Marissa Castañon; his grandchildren, Isabella and Evan Griffith;
and his sister, Delfina Perez; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Rudolph P. Castañon, Jr.
