SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 716
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the client representatives of the legal aid service
providers in the Southwest states who are gathering in Austin for
the Region VII Client Conference April 27 through 29, 2005; and
WHEREAS, The theme of the conference, "Voices for Justice,"
signifies the purpose of legal aid service providers and the role
of client representatives; the event provides an opportunity for
the client representatives to share ideas and to learn ways to
better inform their communities of the services and benefits
provided by legal aid; and
WHEREAS, Hosted by Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, Incorporated,
the conference will have in attendance client representatives from
the states of Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, as
well as from various cities throughout Texas; and
WHEREAS, The conference attendees will visit the
State Capitol and a local legal aid services clinic, and they
will have classes on becoming more effective leaders, using
social workers in legal services, and taking advantage of
technology to access legal aid resources; and
WHEREAS, The client representatives are advocates for
increased legislative support for legal aid service providers
and do an outstanding job of communicating to their communities
the availability and accessibility of legal aid services for
low-income families; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the client representatives
attending the Region VII Client Conference for their services and
extend to them best wishes for a successful and productive event;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
