SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 726
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
join the American Society of Safety Engineers, the Canadian
Society of Safety Engineers, and the Mexican Society of
Registered Engineers in recognizing the week of May 2 through
May 7, 2005, as North American Occupational Safety and Health Week
in the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, North American Occupational Safety and Health Week
provides an opportunity for members of safety organizations to
collaborate on determining causes and preventing workplace
illness and accidents; this week is an opportunity for all to
strengthen this commitment to occupational health and safety; and
WHEREAS, During this time, events across the county are
planned to focus attention on workplace safety; last year's events
included a job fair, a poster contest, a work zone memorial, and
a coal mine exhibit; and
WHEREAS, Workplace safety programs developed jointly by
employees and their companies will be presented across the nation;
the numerous individuals and organizations dedicated to
workplace safety are truly worthy of legislative recognition;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the individuals and organizations
committed to workplace safety and dedicate the week of May 2
through May 7, 2005, as North American Occupational Safety and
Health Week in Texas; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
