SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 730

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the San Antonio area Gold Medal winners of the Texas Council
of Engineering Companies' 2005 Texas CEC Engineering Excellence 
Awards; and
	WHEREAS, The Studies, Research, and Consulting Engineering 
Services Award was won by HNTB Companies for the State Highway 45 
Southeast Environmental Impact Statement it prepared for the 
Texas Department of Transportation; Malcolm Pirnie, Incorporated,
received the Environmental Award for its work on the Wastewater 
Treatment Plant Odor Control project for the City of Dallas; and
	WHEREAS, Pate Engineers, Incorporated, received the Water 
and Wastewater Award for its Almeda Road Cave-In Repair project for
the City of Houston, and PBS&J earned the Surveying and Mapping 
Award for its As-Built High Definition Survey of The Dallas North 
Tollway for the North Texas Tollway Authority; and
	WHEREAS, The Engineering Excellence Awards competition has 
been sponsored by the Texas Council of Engineering Companies 
since its inception in 1975 to honor and recognize outstanding 
achievements in the Texas engineering community; and
	WHEREAS, Selection of the award recipients was based on a 
project's uniqueness, originality, technical merits, value to the
engineering profession, complexity, and how successfully the 
project met the needs of the client; the Gold Medal Award recipients
are some of the finest engineering companies in Texas and are 
most deserving of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby congratulate the winners of the 2005 
Engineering Excellence Awards Competition and extend to all best 
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in their
honor and as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
