SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 742
In Memory
of
Jeff Brown
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Jeff Brown, who died April 21, 2005, at
the age of 36; and
WHEREAS, Jeff was born to Steve and Maggie Brown on
October 16, 1968, in Kermit; he was active in sports throughout
his school years and earned letters in each sport he played for the
Kermit High School Yellow Jackets; he attended Texas Tech University
and then went on to play football for Sul Ross State University
in Alpine; and
WHEREAS, Family was central to Jeff's life, and he worked
for many years with his father at Brown Electric, the family
business in Kermit; he married Marla Dudley on October 16, 2004,
and moved to the San Angelo area in 2005 to work for Mertzon Pump
and Supply; and
WHEREAS, A man of many talents and passions, Jeff loved
music and was an avid percussionist; he was also a great fan of
the Texas Longhorns and was a Harley-Davidson motorcycle
aficionado; and
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and generosity, Jeff
gave unselfishly of himself to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and
sense of humor will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Brown lived his life to the fullest and was a
devoted husband, father, son, and brother, and he leaves behind
memories that will be cherished forever by his family and many friends;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
family of Jeff Brown: his wife, Marla Dudley Brown; his daughter,
Caitlyn Rhea Brown; his stepson, Tristan Chase Chapa; his parents,
Steve and Maggie Brown and Johnny and Lynette Burleson; his
grandmothers, Janell Brown, Jean Welch, and Johnnie Carroll; and
his sisters, Shannon Roach and Amanda Heiser; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
it do so in memory of Jeff Brown.
