SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 812
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Friendship Force International for building global
goodwill through personal friendships and to welcome its
ambassadors from New Zealand to Texas; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1977 by President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter
and Wayne Smith, Friendship Force International has brought
together over half a million volunteers from more than 60 countries
in expressions of international goodwill; and

people of different nations and cultures would be personally
enriching and could contribute to world peace, Friendship Force
International enlists members at clubs in over 350 communities
worldwide; and
WHEREAS, Friendship Force ambassadors travel from their
homes to another country as guests in the homes of local hosts,
who provide activities that reflect local culture and traditions;
personal acts of friendship tear down the international barriers
that differences of language, race, religion, and politics can
create; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Friendship Force International
for fostering friendships and goodwill throughout the world;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
