SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 817
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches 
Association, Incorporated, for its contributions to the 
community and state; and
	WHEREAS, The Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches 
Association is meeting in San Antonio July 23-26, 2005, in 
conjunction with the Texas High School Coaches Association's 
school; and
	WHEREAS, The association was formed in 1940 by the former 
coaches of the Prairie View Interscholastic League after the 
Prairie View Interscholastic League merged in 1967 with the 
University Interscholastic League; and
	WHEREAS, Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches 
Association is a nonprofit corporation whose goals are to 
preserve the past by remembering the glory years of the
Prairie View Interscholastic League, to develop a museum to house 
league memorabilia, and to gain University Interscholastic 
League sanction and recognition of former athletic records for 
individuals, schools, and coaches in baseball, basketball, 
football, swimming, track, and tennis; and
	WHEREAS, The association will have more than 500 members in 
attendance in San Antonio; its 26th annual Hall of Honor Awards 
Banquet will be held July 23 and feature guest speaker
Dr. Charles Breithaupt, who is the University Interscholastic 
League Assistant Director and Director of Athletics; and

	WHEREAS, The Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches 
Association is an excellent organization with impressive goals, 
and it is indeed worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Prairie View 
Interscholastic League Coaches Association, Incorporated, for 
their admirable goals and extend to them best wishes for a 
successful and productive event in San Antonio; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
