SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 840
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Lindsey Renee Backen of Sweeny on the occasion of her
home school graduation on May 21, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Lindsey demonstrated exceptional perseverance in
accomplishing her educational goals by completing her
requirements for a high school diploma at home; she has developed
wisdom and outstanding character through her studies with the
Advanced Training Institute International; and
WHEREAS, She completed her goal of reading through the
entire Bible during her junior year and memorized large sections
of the Holy Scriptures during her years of home schooling; and
WHEREAS, She is a member of the National Honor Society and
has exhibited special talent by writing four novels and three
plays during her high school years; she has shown promise for
future success by completing 11 credit hours at Brazosport
College; and
WHEREAS, Using her musical talent, Lindsey served as
assistant director of the home school county choir and taught
piano lessons; Lindsey is an exemplary daughter who strives for
excellence in all of her endeavors; and
WHEREAS, She has successfully faced the many challenges of
a home school education, and she is well prepared to embark on an
adventure into a world that holds countless exciting
opportunities for her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Lindsey Renee Backen for her
many accomplishments and extend to her best wishes for continued
success in the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
