SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 860
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
to recognize Mr. and Mrs. Cecil C. Ramsey of Dripping Springs
on the momentous occasion of their 75th wedding anniversary;
and
WHEREAS, Cecil C. Ramsey met Altha Marie Crawford in 1928,
when they were both living in Houston; afterwards, Cecil made
daily visits to Marie by crossing the bayou in a small boat;
and
WHEREAS, Cecil and Marie were married on July 25, 1930,
when they were both 20 years old; Cecil served in the Army Air
Corps in India during World War II and then worked at Sears
until he retired; Marie worked at the Rice Hotel in Houston
as a hairdresser and sold real estate in San Antonio and
Dripping Springs; and
WHEREAS, Cecil was an avid wild-game hunter and a
rancher; he rode his Tennessee walking horse on the Salt Grass
Trail Ride; Marie was a hostess at Lyndon Baines Johnson's
annual open house, and she is renowned for always having a joke
to tell and a homemade pie or cake to share; and
WHEREAS, Cecil and Marie worked hard all of their lives
so they could buy a ranch in Dripping Springs; today they remain
close companions and are still in love after 75 years; and
WHEREAS, At the age of 94, Cecil and Marie continue to
live their lives to the fullest and have a wealth of friends
across our state and country; they are members of Henly Baptist
Church and have been volunteers with the Henly Fire Department;
the long and happy union of Cecil and Marie Ramsey is truly an
inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby join the family and friends of
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil C. Ramsey in extending best wishes to
them on their 75th wedding anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
for this couple as a memento of this special day in their lives.
