SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 867
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize The County Line on the occasion of its 30th anniversary 
of serving legendary barbecue to the people of Texas; and
	WHEREAS, Founded in 1975 by Bruce Walcutt, Ed Norton,
Don "Skeeter" Miller, and Randy Goss, The County Line showcases 
the highest quality of smoked barbecue prepared with a wonderful, 
rich sauce and served in generous portions in a friendly, relaxed 
atmosphere; and
	WHEREAS, The original County Line in Austin was 
established in an old speakeasy high on a hill above Bee Cave Road 
with a scenic view of the Hill Country; the second Austin 
restaurant, County Line on the Lake, is located on FM 2222 in 
another historic building; and
	WHEREAS, One of the keys to The County Line's success is the 
devotion of its longtime staff; over 20 of the employees have 
been with the company for over 20 years, including Dee Dee Halsey,
general manager of County Line on the Hill, known as the Barbecue 
Queen to the customers and as Mom to the employees; and
	WHEREAS, The many celebrities who have visited The County Line
include Darrell Royal, Lance Armstrong, Sandra Bullock, Ray Benson,
and Jessica Simpson; President George W. Bush had County Line 
barbecue brisket delivered to a dinner in Washington, D.C.; and
	WHEREAS, County Line, Incorporated, operates six full-service,
family-style restaurants under the name The County Line, in 
Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Albuquerque; a seventh in
El Paso is called The State Line, and the company has two 
franchises in Lubbock and Oklahoma City; and
	WHEREAS, Known for their generosity, The County Line 
owners have been actively involved through the years with 
numerous charitable causes, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, 
Project Safe Place, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, 
and many more; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend The County Line owners and staff 
for providing fabulous food and superior service to the citizens 
of Texas for 30 years and extend to them congratulations on their 
success and best wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
