SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 870

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management,
a membership group of the American Hospital Association; and

	WHEREAS, Using education, advocacy, publications, and 
interactions with healthcare organizations and government agencies,
the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management promotes 
innovative risk management strategies and patient safety; and

	WHEREAS, This organization's 4,600 members represent
the healthcare, insurance, law, and other related professions; 
they promote safe and effective patient care practices and the 
maintenance of safe working environments; and

	WHEREAS, The society is proclaiming the week of June 20 
through 24, 2005, National Healthcare Risk Management Week to 
celebrate the contributions of risk managers and their efforts
to improve the safety of the healthcare system; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the American Society for 
Healthcare Risk Management for its work in promoting safe and 
effective patient care and join the society in recognizing June 
20 through 24 as National Healthcare Risk Management Week; and, 
be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this
organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
