SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 871

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Dr. Joseph L. LaManna for his 20 years of service as the 
chairman of Dallas Southwest Osteopathic Physicians, Incorporated; and
	WHEREAS, A dedicated osteopathic physician for over 50 years,
Dr. LaManna opened his Oak Cliff practice on the first day he 
arrived in Dallas; his compassion and his interest in all aspects 
of his patients' lives have made him an admired and respected 
figure in his community; and
	WHEREAS, Instrumental in the foundation of the Dallas 
Southwest Osteopathic Physicians, Incorporated, in 1983, Dr. LaManna
became the chairman in 1985; under his guidance, the organization 
has grown from $7 million in assets to over $19 million in 2005; and
	WHEREAS, This exceptional organization has funded grants 
for programs for youth and senior citizens and services for the 
mentally retarded that have enhanced the quality of life in Dallas;
parks, libraries, the arts, and public and private education have 
also benefited from the largesse of this generous association; and
	WHEREAS, A singularly effective organizer and administrator,
Dr. LaManna has advanced the mission of Dallas Southwest 
Osteopathic Physicians, Incorporated; he and the organization have
improved the health, education, and welfare of the community; and
	WHEREAS, Recognizing his dedication and abilities, many 
other organizations have called upon Dr. LaManna for assistance, 
and he has responded; he has served on the Dallas County Board of 
Health and the advisory boards of the Deaf Action Center and the 
Dallas Brain Injury Association, and he has been named honorary 
chair for several major fund-raising events; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Joseph L. LaManna for his
20 years as chairman of Dallas Southwest Osteopathic Physicians, 
Incorporated, and for his many contributions to the Dallas community;
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
