SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 882
WHEREAS, Many years ago, Clarence and Mary Margaret Nixon made a lifetime commitment to each other, and they have been amply rewarded, for they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary; and WHEREAS, On February 10, 1940, Clarence Lloyd Nixon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Jasper Nixon of Fredericksburg, married Mary Margaret Jung, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Jung of Harper, in Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville; and WHEREAS, The couple has lived in Fredericksburg throughout their marriage; Clarence was employed at Dooley's Store at the age of 17 and worked there until he was 77; he entered the United States Army during World War II and served in northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe, and he received numerous medals and decorations for his exemplary service; and WHEREAS, Mary Margaret was a homemaker and cared for their three children; in 1970, she began working as an aide at the Hill Country Memorial Hospital, and she retired in 1990 after over 20 years of service; and WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Nixon have cherished traditional family and moral values; over the years, their love has grown stronger as they experienced the joys and sorrows of everyday living; and WHEREAS, They have been blessed with a wonderful family; their children, Gail, Kevin, and Kirk, together with their families, and their grandchildren, Christy and Camilla, and great-grandchildren, Adrian, Erin, Kurren, and Kyle, are a source of much pride and joy; and WHEREAS, Clarence and Mary Margaret are actively involved with the American Legion Louis Jordon Post and attend Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg; the long and happy union of this wonderful couple is truly an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Nixon on their 65th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in their lives.
