SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 903
WHEREAS, The peace officers who work to protect the safety
and well-being of this state's citizens are deeply deserving of
the gratitude of every Texan, and Officer Bobby Jenkins of the
Rowlett Police Department has distinguished himself as one of
this elite group's most able members with his rescue of a young
girl; and
WHEREAS, On March 19, 2005, Officer Jenkins was dispatched
to answer a call by a man whose daughters had disappeared while he
was taking a nap, and in searching the surrounding neighborhood
for the missing girls, Officer Jenkins came across one of them,
a five-year-old, standing near a swimming pool; and
WHEREAS, He quickly discovered the girl's four-year-old
sister floating in the pool, and on pulling her out and not
detecting a pulse, he set about attempting to revive her with
cardiopulmonary resuscitation; and
WHEREAS, A United States Army veteran who had previously
served as a combat medic, Officer Jenkins continued to administer
cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the arrival of emergency
medical personnel; and
WHEREAS, By acting coolly and decisively when every second
counted, Officer Jenkins helped to save the life of a child who
would surely have died without his intervention, averting what
could have been a terrible tragedy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby honor Officer Bobby Jenkins of the
Rowlett Police Department for his heroism and extend to him
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for Officer Jenkins as an expression of high regard from
the Texas Senate.
