SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 906
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
to recognize the students, teachers, and alumni of Mesita
Elementary School in El Paso, who recently gathered to celebrate
the school's history and recall the effect it had on their lives;
and
WHEREAS, An elementary school is a special place in that it
is home to the first tentative steps at learning to read and
write, and it is home to the first confident steps into the
future; and
WHEREAS, Mesita Elementary School was built in 1948 to
replace Dudley Elementary School, and with its demolition soon to
take place, its former students and teachers gathered for a
special type of reunion; and
WHEREAS, To commemorate its 57 years of history, almost 300
former students and teachers attended a Building Bash at the
school on April 22, 2005, as well as a dinner and dance that were
held at the El Paso Country Club that night; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes for the future to the
former students and teachers of Mesita Elementary School; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a
remembrance of Mesita Elementary School.
