SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 908
In Memory
of
Carol Korenek
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Carol "Casey" Korenek, who died April 12, 2005; and WHEREAS, Casey was born in 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, to Frances and Lester McGraw; when she was young, she moved to Texas with her parents and her sister, Judi; and WHEREAS, She happily made Texas her home for the rest of her life, living first in Santa Fe and later in Galveston; in 1961, she settled permanently in Austin; and WHEREAS, She was a longtime, dedicated employee of the State of Texas and The University of Texas at Austin; she retired in 2002; and WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, Casey enriched the lives of all who knew her through her love and compassion, her warmth and kindness, and her enthusiasm and vitality; and WHEREAS, Casey Korenek was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Carol Korenek: her children, Toni Taliaferro, William "Chip" Korenek, and Tracy Card; her grandchildren, Allen Taliaferro, Melissa Taliaferro, Jordan Korenek, Kevin Korenek, and Taylor Card; her great-granddaughter, Alyssa Coffelt; and her sister, Judi Vreeland; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Casey Korenek.
