SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 912 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Jorge Sanchez, Sr., for his role in bringing to light the extraordinary contributions of women to the growth and development of South Texas; and WHEREAS, Working with the American GI Forum and Luis A. Diaz de Leon, Jorge made important contributions to Historical Women of Laredo-2000, which recognizes the significant role of women in the fields of art, education, politics, medicine and law enforcement in the early days of Laredo and Webb County; and WHEREAS, Published to encourage the research and documentation of regional history through the use of primary source materials, this valuable work provides insight into the daily activities of life in Laredo's first 250 years; and WHEREAS, Historical Women of Laredo-2000 is dedicated to all the women of our continent, particularly the women of Laredo and Webb County; it provides important role models from the past who helped shape their community, for girls and young women as they face their future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Jorge Sanchez, Sr., for his work in the field of historical research and his contributions to preserving Webb County's heritage; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
