SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 932
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
to recognize the Nueces Canyon High School Robotics Team,
which recently won the Division I state championship title
in the Texas State Robotics Competition; and
WHEREAS, In the competition, each team began with an
identical starting kit consisting of a programmable device,
wires, motors, sensors, gears, wheels, and other assorted
parts; each team was then required to solve a problem with
a theme related to micro-medical robots; and
WHEREAS, This year, the contest was titled "Ping Pong
Virus--Can You Save the Immune System in Time?"; operating
under great pressure and with limited time, team members
worked together to creatively solve the problem; their
programming featured a large amount of variability based
on input from many sources, and their robot played music
while performing its work; and
WHEREAS, Team members Beth Bingham, Coby Jackman,
Ben Johnson, Leonard Lee Morgan III, and James White have
demonstrated great talent and perseverance throughout the
school year, ending the year undefeated in all their matches;
and
WHEREAS, Under the outstanding leadership of sponsors
Tena Morgan and Louis Webb, the squad members have developed
exceptional teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, and they
are truly deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the Nueces Canyon High School
Robotics Team for winning the Division I state championship
title; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
