SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 946
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Raquel Salazar of Seabrook, who has fulfilled the requirements for graduation from the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin; and WHEREAS, Her graduation on May 26, 2005, is the culmination of years of diligent study in a curriculum designed to challenge and broaden her knowledge; she came to the school in 1996; a hardworking student, she has received many Silver Honor Roll certificates and has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills; and WHEREAS, She was the lead director of the Video Technology Synergy Studio Student Production Company and was final editor of seven videos; she was chosen to participate in the Capital Schoolhouse Convention for students with exceptional skills in the field and was selected as a leader for a video produced on-site; and WHEREAS, She also participated in the Student Technologists Achieving Real Success Academy at the Texas Computer Education Convention and was one of 20 students selected from across the state to create a movie with hearing students; she was appointed team leader for the project; Raquel has also demonstrated athletic prowess--she played tennis for three years and volleyball for two years, and she was a cheerleader for two years; she has been accepted at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in New York, where she will study graphic and video technology; and WHEREAS, Raquel can take justifiable pride in having earned her diploma from the Texas School for the Deaf; the school is respected in academic circles in Texas and nationally for its outstanding quality of instruction and dedication to excellence; and WHEREAS, She has successfully faced many challenges in working toward her goals, and she is well prepared to embark on an adventure into a world that holds countless exciting opportunities for her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby congratulate Raquel Salazar on her graduation and extend to her best wishes for success in the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as a memento of this event and as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
