SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 950
In Memory
of
Michael Ryan Davis
WHEREAS, The tragedy of a young life cut short is a sobering
reminder of the fragility of life and the brevity of our time on
this earth, and it is with deep sorrow that we join in mourning
the passing of Michael Ryan Davis of La Grange, who died on
April 21, 2005, at the age of 26; and
WHEREAS, Born on October 15, 1978, in Alexandria, Virginia,
to Larry and Linda Davis, Mikey Davis was a talented athlete who
played second base for the Fayetteville High School Lions baseball
team and helped capture the 1997 Conference A State Baseball
Championship; and
WHEREAS, Previously employed as a lineman for Reliant Energy
in Houston, he worked for the Lower Colorado River Authority for
the past four years; and
WHEREAS, A Baptist by faith, the quiet-natured individual
enjoyed the friendship and affection of a close-knit group of
admirers who enjoyed his quick wit; and
WHEREAS, Although his passing is a wound that only time may
heal, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of
all those fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Michael Ryan Davis
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: his son,
Ryan Davis; his son's mother, Tracie Ortiz; his mother, Linda Davis;
his grandmother, La Rue Rombs; his sister, Tina Davis Cazares;
his brother and sister-in-law, Marc and Allyson Davis; his fiancée,
Tabitha Rose; his nieces and nephews, Shawn, Steven, and Megan Davis
and Alex and Sophia Cazares; and to all who mourn his passing;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared
for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day,
it do so in memory of Michael Ryan Davis.
