SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 953
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Reverend Daryl R. Carter for his service to his church
and the Dallas community; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Carter has long been active in church
activities, teaching Sunday Church School, conducting devotional
services, and assisting in Bible studies and seminars; he has
dedicated many hours to helping young people develop and live
Christian lives; he organized the Ambassadors for Christ and the
Big Brother programs to help young men in the church; and
WHEREAS, He was ordained a deacon of Carver Heights Baptist
Church in 1996 and answered the call to the ministry the
following year; he delivered his first sermon in March of 1997
and was appointed assistant to the pastor in 1999 and copastor in
June of 2002; when his late father's health began to fail, he
assumed additional administrative responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, Daryl Carter earned an associate's degree in
applied arts and science from Mountain View College in 1985; he
attended D. Edwin Johnson Bible Institute and earned a bachelor's
degree in theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Fort Worth, where he is pursuing a master's degree in
divinity; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Carter began studying photography as a
hobby and soon earned a reputation across the city for his
exceptional skills; he continued to develop his skills in art and
photography and became the church photographer; he expanded his
work to include wedding photographs, portraits for
organizations, and school pictures; with his faith in God and the
encouragement of his father, he opened Daryl Photography Studio
in 1995; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Carter is a source of strength and
inspiration to members of his congregation; he is highly
respected both as a photographer and as a church leader, and he
has had a positive influence on the lives of many citizens in the
Dallas community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Reverend Daryl R. Carter for his
outstanding service to Carver Heights Baptist Church and to his
community and extend to him best wishes for continued success in
all his endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Reverend Carter as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
