SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 972
In Memory
of
Joe Douglas Moore
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Wimberley in mourning the loss of Joe Douglas Moore,
who died April 21, 2005, at the age of 48; and
WHEREAS, Doug was born on April 16, 1957, in Paducah, Kentucky,
and graduated from Marshall County High School; he became a Texan
in 1981, and he married the love of his life, Laurie Cain Moore in
September of 1987 in Houston; and
WHEREAS, He was employed for the last 18 months as a
high-line electrician for the Lower Colorado River Authority
after working more than 20 years as a journeyman lineman in
Houston; and
WHEREAS, Doug loved the environment, treasuring clear
skies and clean water and valuing every animal on Earth; he lived
an exemplary life that was cut short by a tragic accident; and
WHEREAS, Doug enriched the lives of all who knew him with
his warmth, his kindness, and his enthusiasm for living each day
to the fullest; and
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather,
and brother, and he leaves behind memories that will be long
treasured by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Joe Douglas Moore: his wife of 18 years,
Laurie Cain Moore; his daughter, Sandra; his granddaughters,
Lauren and Natalie; his mother, Judy Peck; his father, Don Moore;
his brother, Bryan Moore; his sister, Kathy Don Henderson; and
his grandfather, Richard Dykes; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Joe Douglas Moore.
