SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 984
In Memory
of
Fred Lee Maciel
WHEREAS, The Texas Senate joins the citizens of Spring in
mourning the tragic loss of Marine Lance Corporal Fred Lee Maciel,
who died January 26, 2005, while serving his country in Operation
Iraqi Freedom; and
WHEREAS, Born November 7, 1984, Fred Lee Maciel graduated
in 2003 from Spring High School, where he was involved in football and
basketball; he was also a proud member of the Navy Junior Reserve
Officers' Training Corps; and
WHEREAS, Fred was a leader and a role model for the younger
cadets in high school, and soon after graduation he fulfilled his
dream of becoming a Marine; and
WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Maciel was a brave young man who
committed himself to the service of his country, and the loss of this
outstanding young man has saddened the entire Spring community; and
WHEREAS, Fred Maciel was a devoted son, brother, and
grandson, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Lance Corporal Fred Lee Maciel: his mother,
Patsy Maciel; his stepfather, Richard Garza; his brother,
Carlos Maciel, Jr.; his grandparents; his fiancée, Jamie Daugherty;
and his other beloved relatives; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the family of Fred Maciel as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
it do so in memory of Fred Lee Maciel.
