SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 986
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
to pay tribute to Sergeant Cliff Hill for his service to his
country in the Army National Guard; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Hill is serving with the Scout Platoon
of the 142nd Infantry Battalion, 56th Brigade Combat Team,
36th Infantry Division, at Camp Bucca in Southern Iraq; and
WHEREAS, He is home in New Braunfels for a two-week leave
with his family, which includes his beautiful wife, Carrie;
his mother, Debbie Dodds, who works in the Senate Engrossing
and Enrolling legal department; his stepfather, Jim; his father
and stepmother Craig and Sissy Hill; his brother, Jarrett, a
Marine veteran; his sister, April; and other devoted family
members; and
WHEREAS, Cliff served three years in the Army and has
been in the National Guard for a year and a half; he is a junior
at Texas State University, where he is studying exercise sports
science with the goal of becoming a coach and teacher; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Hill has demonstrated exceptional
dedication to duty and courage in the daunting challenges he
has faced while serving his country in a foreign land, and the
citizens of Texas and the nation are grateful for his patriotism
and heroic service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Sergeant Cliff Hill for the
valor, strength, and perseverance he has demonstrated while
serving his country in Iraq and extend to him sincerest best
wishes; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
