SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 989

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Katie and Robert Delaney for their unselfish devotion 
and dedication to their extended family; and
	WHEREAS, For over 50 years, Katie Delaney has been the 
backbone of her family, providing loving care and support 
wherever it was needed; after Katie's mother died when she was 
sixteen, Katie helped her stepfather, Ben Adams, raise her nine 
brothers and sisters; and
	WHEREAS, In 1959, Katie married Robert Delaney, and 
together they have provided financial, moral, and spiritual 
support as they have become the matriarch and patriarch to the 
Adams and Delaney families; and
	WHEREAS, Katie retired from the M.D. Anderson Cancer 
Center in 1983, and Robert retired from Entex a few years later; 
they still devote much of their time to their family; and
	WHEREAS, The fruits of their care, love, and sacrifices are 
many generations of productive and successful citizens that are 
making this state and nation a better place to live; the example 
they have set ensures that their values will live on through 
others for many years to come; and
	WHEREAS, To show their appreciation and love, the grateful 
family of Katie and Robert Delaney is honoring them with a 
banquet; the theme of this joyous occasion is "Give Me My Flowers 
While I Yet Live! Katie and Robert Delaney:  Extending Love 
Through the Generations"; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Katie and Robert Delaney for 
their care and devotion to their family; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
