SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 990

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the Laredo Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of its 
90th anniversary; and

	WHEREAS, Providing vision and leadership to develop, promote
and protect the business, tourism and educational interests of the
Laredo metropolitan area has been the mission of the Laredo Chamber
of Commerce since its inception in 1915; and

	WHEREAS, A private, not-for-profit organization, the 
Laredo Chamber of Commerce is the longest running business 
organization in the city; it is accredited by the United States 
Chamber of Commerce, an honor accorded to fewer than 12 percent 
of the members of that body; and

	WHEREAS, For 90 years, the Laredo Chamber of Commerce has 
led the way as countless changes have taken place in the area, and it
continues to be at the forefront of change as Laredo moves forward
into an ever more prosperous future; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the Laredo Chamber of Commerce 
for its outstanding service to the City of Laredo; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
this valued organization as an expression of esteem from the 
Texas Senate.
