SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1001
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Garvin Anderson, who is retiring from the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts on May 31, 2005, after 23 years and five months of dedicated service to the state; and WHEREAS, Garvin began his career in the comptroller's office in January, 1984, as a mainframe operator; after five years, he transferred to the Customer Services Division, where he was an ADP equipment operator, and in 1994, he transferred to the Data Services Division as a systems support specialist; and WHEREAS, He earned a promotion to systems support specialist IV in 1997, and after the division's name was changed to Information Technology in 1998, he became a systems analyst; during his career, he worked for three comptrollers--Bob Bullock, John Sharp, and Carole Keeton Strayhorn; and WHEREAS, Throughout his career in the comptroller's office, Garvin has demonstrated superior skills and expertise in his field; a talented and resourceful individual, he has handled his many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency and dedication; and WHEREAS, Garvin has distinguished himself in his career and has earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues, and his presence in the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Garvin Anderson for his exceptional service to the state in the comptroller's office and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
