SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1012
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Mr. and Mrs. Joe D. McGuill on the splendid occasion of 
their 50th wedding anniversary; and
	WHEREAS, Joe D. and Margaret first met at Our Lady of 
Refuge Catholic Church; they married August 9, 1955, in
San Patricio County and built a home on land that was deeded to 
the McGuill family by Mexico in 1834; and
	WHEREAS, Now recognized as a Texas Heritage Ranch, the 
McGuill Ranch continues to be involved in the production of cattle, 
oil, and gas in Refugio and Goliad Counties; Mr. and Mrs. McGuill 
have also owned and managed a family ranch equipment and hardware 
business in Refugio since 1973; and
	WHEREAS, They are both active members of the Refugio County 
community; Joe D. has served as chairman of the Soil and Water 
Conservation Service, as a member of the Refugio County Hospital 
Board, and as president of the Refugio Jamboree Board; he has 
also served as commissioner of Refugio County and is active with 
the chamber of commerce and Friends of 4-H; Margaret is active 
with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and they are both 
active in Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Refugio and Saint 
Catherine's Catholic Church in Blanconia; and
	WHEREAS, Over the years, they have grown stronger in their 
love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and 
sorrows of everyday living; they have been blessed with a 
wonderful family and are beloved and respected by their children 
and grandchildren; and

	WHEREAS, On August 6, the couple's marriage will be blessed 
with a Celebration Mass at Saint Catherine's Catholic Church; the 
mass will be followed by a reception hosted by their children; 
the long and happy union of Joe D. and Margaret is truly an 
inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to
Mr. and Mrs. Joe D. McGuill on their golden wedding anniversary; 
and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in 
their lives.
