SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1014
In Memory
of
Agnes Marie Jouvence
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Sister Agnes Marie Jouvence,
who died May 9, 2005, at the age of 99; and
WHEREAS, Born Eulalie Marie Agnes Jouvence on May 1, 1906,
in Caden, Moriban, France, she was a Sister of the Sacred Heart of
Jesus of Saint-Jacut for 82 years; and
WHEREAS, She was Provincial Superior of the Sisters of the
Sacred Heart of Jesus for nine years; she was an educator for 23
years in Hitchin, England, and for 35 years at Mount Sacred Heart
School for Girls and the Mount Sacred Heart School; she continued
to volunteer her services at the school after her retirement; and
WHEREAS, In 1993, she received the honor of Chevalier Dans
L'Ordre des Palmes Academiques from L'Attache Culturel et
Scientifique; she spent the last years of her life at Spent Wing
in San Antonio; and
WHEREAS, A generous and caring woman, Sister Agnes Marie
Jouvence was noted for her compassion, warmth, and kindness and
was beloved and respected by all who knew her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Sister Agnes
Marie Jouvence and extend sincere condolences to her family and
to the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Saint-Jacut; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as
an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and
that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
Sister Agnes Marie Jouvence.
