SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1017
In Memory
of
C. C. McNealy, Jr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Dallas in mourning the loss of Reverend Dr. C. C. McNealy, Jr.,
who died May 22, 2005, at the age of 68; and
WHEREAS, Born July 2, 1936, in Bonham, Texas, Dr. McNealy
served in the ministry for 46 years; he was pastor of the Greater
El Bethel Baptist Church and a mainstay of the Dallas ecumenical
community for 36 years; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished scholar and theologian, Dr. McNealy
earned his doctoral degree in urban ministries at the Aspen
Theological Seminary; he also held honorary doctoral degrees
from The University of Texas at Arlington and the Union Baptist
Theological Seminary in Birmingham, Alabama; and
WHEREAS, A man of many accomplishments, Dr. McNealy was
founding president and president emeritus of the Baptist Ministers
Conference of Dallas and served on the advisory board of the
National Baptist Convention of America, Incorporated; he received
the Prince of Preachers award from the Interdenominational
Ministerial Alliance; and
WHEREAS, Under Dr. McNealy's inspirational leadership, the
Greater El Bethel Baptist Church provided enlightenment, hope,
and support to countless Christians; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping others, Dr. McNealy generously
devoted his time and energy to the needs of his congregation;
noted for his warmth and enthusiasm, he enriched the lives of all
who knew him; and
WHEREAS, A devoted father and beloved pastor, he leaves
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Reverend Dr. C. C. McNealy; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Dr. C. C. McNealy.
