SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1019

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Ruben Villescas for his dedicated service to the 
citizens of Pharr as chief of police; and

	WHEREAS, Ruben began as a patrol officer in the Pharr 
Police Department 22 years ago; he swiftly rose through the ranks 
of the department and consistently demonstrated his talents and 
leadership abilities; and

	WHEREAS, Knowledge and training are vital to a police 
officer, and Ruben has amassed nearly 4,000 training hours while 
earning advanced and masters peace officers certificates; he 
also graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National 
Academy in Quantico, Virginia; and

	WHEREAS, Committed to making Pharr a better place to work 
and live, Ruben is a highly respected police officer whose 
meritorious work has earned him the position of chief of police 
and the respect and admiration of his colleagues and of the 
citizens of Pharr; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Ruben Villescas for his many 
years of service to his community and to the state; and, be it 
further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
