SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1029
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Whitney Jennings for her outstanding achievements; and
WHEREAS, A freshman at Cranfills Gap High School, Whitney
recently received the Chapter Farmer Award for her outstanding
care of Darla, a heifer she caught in a calf scramble at the
2004 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; Darla was donated to the
rodeo by Senator Mario Gallegos; and
WHEREAS, Whitney has been a member of the Future Farmers
of America since she was in the third grade, and she competes in
numerous competitions with Darla; in the 2005 Houston Livestock
Show and Rodeo, she won second place for the most attractive
stall, which she decorated with a backdrop of the Senate floor
for a Texas Capitol theme; and
WHEREAS, Who's Who National Magazine recognized Whitney
as being in the top five percent of students who have achieved
academic success; she also plays basketball and runs track and
cross-country, and next year she will be a cheerleader; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Whitney Jennings for her many
accomplishments and wish her well in all her future endeavors;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
