SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1030
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize T. Chaney Anderson, who is retiring after more than 30
years of dedicated service to the University of Houston-Downtown;
and
WHEREAS, The field of education has always been of utmost
importance to Chaney Anderson, from the time he was a mathematics
teacher in a West Texas high school through his tenure as an
administrator in a diverse, urban university in the largest city
in the South; and
WHEREAS, Chaney joined the faculty of the University of
Houston-Downtown in 1974 as a mathematics instructor, and
by 1976, he had coauthored a mathematics textbook and was an
assistant professor and an assistant to the dean; and
WHEREAS, Within the space of only a few years, he would
assume greater responsibilities in a variety of positions,
including that of assistant to the vice president for Academic
Affairs, director of Budgeting and Facilities Planning, and
assistant vice president for Administration; in 1986, he was
named vice president for Administration, the position from
which he is now retiring; and
WHEREAS, A distinguished gentleman and an exceptionally
talented administrator, Chaney Anderson has been committed to
providing a superior educational environment for the young
people of Texas, and he has played a major role in making the
University of Houston-Downtown the outstanding institution it
is today; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend T. Chaney Anderson for his many
accomplishments and for his contributions to the University of
Houston-Downtown; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
