SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1045

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
join the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce in recognizing 
George C. "Tim" Hixon for his lifetime of exemplary volunteer 
work; and
	WHEREAS, The notable contributions to Texas agribusiness 
by this distinguished man are being honored with the presentation 
of the 2005 Freeman Award at the 46th Annual Freeman Award 
Luncheon in San Antonio; and
	WHEREAS, Tim Hixon demonstrates the difference one person 
can make in his community; he is an honorary trustee for the 
Hornocker Wildlife Institute and the Parks and Wildlife Foundation
of Texas, as well as being trustee emeritus for the San Antonio 
Zoological Society and the African Wildlife Foundation; and
	WHEREAS, He is a director and past chairman for the 
Southwest Foundation of Biomedical Research; he has served on the 
advisory board of the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute 
and on the board of trustees for the Nature Conservancy of Texas; 
and
	WHEREAS, Tim has received many honors for his invaluable 
service, including the Chevron Conservation Award in 1997, the 
Distinguished Alumnus of the Year from Trinity University in 
1998, and the Texas Legends Award in 2004 from the National Fish 
and Wildlife Foundation; and
	WHEREAS, An energetic leader, he owns the Hixon Land and 
Cattle Company and also is the vice president and chairman of the 
board of Hixon Properties, Incorporated; his dynamic enthusiasm 
is an inspiration to all who know him; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend George C. "Tim" Hixon for his 
dedication to Texas agribusiness and congratulate him for receiving
the 2005 Freeman Award; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
