SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1050
In Memory
of
Kenneth Dale Zimmerman
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Kenneth Dale Zimmerman, who died May 22, 2005, at the age of 81; and WHEREAS, Kenneth Dale Zimmerman was born June 28, 1923, in Dallas; he served in the Pacific Theater with the United States Marine Corps during World War II; in 1946, he married Wanda Hite; the couple moved to Austin and he earned a journalism degree from The University of Texas; after Wanda passed away, he married Virginia Lysowski Pearson in 1971; and WHEREAS, He began his professional career with the Texas Safety Association; in 1959, he started Media Services on his own and took on the additional responsibility of serving as executive vice president of Austin Association of Builders; he then purchased Neal Douglass studios and a print shop, and managed all four businesses for several years; ultimately, he worked for the Austin Association of Builders full-time until he retired in 1988; and WHEREAS, Kenneth was founding director of the Boys Club of Austin and was a past president of the Austin Civitan Club; he was an officer with the National Association of Home Builders and a member of Sigma Delta Chi, a professional journalism society; he was a highly respected and distinguished gentleman who will long be remembered by those who knew him for his warmth, his valued counsel, and his service to his community; and WHEREAS, Kenneth Zimmerman was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Kenneth Dale Zimmerman: his wife, Virginia Zimmerman; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. John C. Zimmerman; his granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Zimmerman; and his stepson, Bernard Pearson; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kenneth Dale Zimmerman.
