SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1065

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the Houston 
Chapter of the Association for Women in Computing in paying 
tribute to the women who have been selected as the Top Houston 
Women in Technology; and

	WHEREAS, Twenty-three distinguished women have been chosen 
for a Leadership in Technology Award by the Houston Chapter of 
the Association for Women in Computing; the women will receive 
this prestigious award at a gala dinner and reception held in 
their honor on June 11, 2005; and

	WHEREAS, This ceremony recognizes women who have excelled 
in the field of technology and have contributed greatly to their 
companies, their peers, and their community through their 
outstanding leadership; and

	WHEREAS, The theme of this year's 7th annual gala dinner 
and reception is "lighting their candles"; proceeds from this 
celebrated event support the Kathi Bowles Scholarship for 
deserving college students pursuing technology degrees at 
Houston area universities; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend these worthy honorees and join 
the Houston Chapter of the Association for Women in Computing in 
recognizing Saturday, June 11, 2005, as Women in Technology 
Excellence Day; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
the honorees as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
