SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1097
In Memory
of
Steven C. Tucker
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Grapevine in mourning the loss of Steven C. Tucker, who died
May 21, 2005, while serving his country in Afghanistan; and
WHEREAS, Steven was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade
based at Camp Ederle in Vicenza, Italy; he was deployed to
Afghanistan with the Combined Joint Task Force-76, whose mission
objectives were to establish security, defeat Al-Qaida and
Taliban forces, and deter reemergence of terrorism; he was fatally
wounded when his Humvee struck an antitank mine; and
WHEREAS, Steven demonstrated exceptional courage and
devotion to duty, fighting on behalf of our country in a foreign
land during a time of extreme danger; he was promoted to the rank
of corporal after his death; and
WHEREAS, Steven Tucker was born January 6, 1986, in
Victoria and moved with his family to Grapevine when he was five;
after graduating from Colleyville Heritage High School in 2004,
he enlisted in the military; and
WHEREAS, Steven touched the lives of all who knew him with
his kindness and genuine concern for others; a devoted son and
brother, Steven leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Steven C. Tucker: his mother, Rowena Tucker;
his father, Charles R. Tucker, Jr.; his brothers, Michael Tucker,
Jonathan Tucker Ali, and Justin Tucker; his sister, Katie DeRoche;
his stepfather, Greg Wooldridge; and his stepmother, Lisa Tucker;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Steven C. Tucker.
