SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1107

	WHEREAS, Captain Eric Crawford of Lufkin has rendered valiant
service in Iraq as a member of the United States Army; and
	WHEREAS, Born in Maude, Oklahoma, on November 17, 1972, 
Captain Crawford enlisted in the army as a high school student and
completed boot camp the summer before his senior year; he was made
a platoon leader at the age of 17, before he received his high 
school diploma; and
	WHEREAS, Eric Crawford embarked on active duty after 
graduation, and his outstanding performance of his duties and 
strong leadership abilities earned him steady promotion; 
recommended for Officer Candidate School, he subsequently 
attained the rank of captain; and
	WHEREAS, In time, Captain Crawford returned to civilian 
life and began building a successful business career; affiliated 
with Farmers Insurance, he was serving as a district manager, 
overseeing the work of 29 agents, when he was called to active 
duty again in July of 2004; and
	WHEREAS, Leaving his wife, Terrie, and two small children, 
Addie and Aubrie, Captain Crawford deployed to Iraq, where he is 
a member of 445 TC Company; notwithstanding the hardships and 
risks that military forces face in wartime, this courageous Texan 
has performed his work with pride, professionalism, and 
steadfast commitment; and
	WHEREAS, Through his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and
this country, Captain Eric Crawford embodies the highest ideals 
of the United States armed forces, and he has earned the lasting 
respect and gratitude of all Americans; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby honor Captain Eric Crawford for his 
outstanding service in Iraq and extend to him profound appreciation
for his brave and selfless efforts; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be 
prepared for Captain Crawford as an expression of high regard 
from the Texas Senate.
