SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1109
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Colonel Joe E. Ramirez, Jr., for his exemplary service with the United States Army; and WHEREAS, Colonel Joe Ramirez is currently serving as the deputy chief of staff under General John Abizaid at the US Central Command in Tampa, Florida; the US Central Command is one of nine unified combatant commands assigned operational control of our nation's combat forces in areas that include the Horn of Africa, Afghanistan, and Iraq; in the upcoming weeks, he will return to Iraq for further service; and WHEREAS, A highly respected army officer, Colonel Ramirez represents the many members of the military who risk their lives daily while protecting the United States from international terrorism and striving to ensure our national security interests throughout the world; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Colonel Ramirez holds a master's degree in strategic studies from the United States Army War College; he is also trained in an array of specialized areas, such as nuclear and chemical target analysis, allowing him to better serve his country; and WHEREAS, For his outstanding military service, Colonel Ramirez has earned numerous decorations, including the Legion of Merit, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal; and WHEREAS, A man of courage and many skills, Colonel Joe Ramirez has dedicated himself to the service of his nation, and he is truly deserving of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Colonel Joe E. Ramirez, Jr., on his contributions to the United States Army and his country and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
