SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1110
In Memory
of
Lois Ruth Buckner
WHEREAS, A full and generous life has come to an end with the passing of Lois Ruth Buckner of Corpus Christi on May 26, 2005, at the age of 90; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mrs. Buckner was born on September 16, 1914, in Loraine, and during the course of her time on this earth, she was witness to sweeping and unprecedented change in this state, the nation, and the world over; and WHEREAS, Her partner in love and in life was J. E. Buckner, with whom she owned and operated the trucking company that bore his name, and their union grew in mutual love and admiration with each passing year until his death; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Buckner was a member of the community of faith at River Hills Baptist Church, where she will be greatly missed by her fellow worshipers; and WHEREAS, Although family and friends are saddened by the loss of this esteemed Texan, she leaves behind a legacy to treasure for those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Lois Ruth Buckner and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: her son and daughter-in-law, Noble and Kathy Buckner; her daughters and sons-in-law, Nita and W. G. "Billy" Haney and Gaynell and John Harrell; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Stelvin and Marie Kidd and Woodrow and Reba Kidd; her 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lois Ruth Buckner.
