SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1111
In Memory
of
Ed Wendt
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Houston in mourning the loss of Ed Wendt, who died May 26, 2005,
at the age of 55; and
WHEREAS, Ed was born in Hempstead but made a name for
himself in Houston through advocacy journalism; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, he was highly respected
in the community for his support of civil rights and the
First Amendment; recently he had devoted himself to increasing
public awareness of the Hepatitis C virus; and
WHEREAS, Ed Wendt will be remembered for his enthusiasm,
his strong principles, and his dauntless spirit; and
WHEREAS, He leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Ed Wendt: his sister and brother-in-law,
Rebecca and Rock Demarais; his brother, Jack Robert Wendt; and
his niece and nephew; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Ed Wendt.
